Conor Ohland, MHC-LP
Hello! My name is Conor. One of my favorite activities to do is to paint; I may not be the best at it, but it’s a great way for me to be creative! My favorite breed of dog is a bulldog, but my all time favorite animal is a bear. Just like bears, I love to take walks at my local nature trail where I can just be surrounded by the natural environment. My favorite movie genres are thrillers and suspense. I love to watch cooking shows on TV to give me some inspiration for what I can make for myself, special shoutout to Gordon Ramsay for the ideas!
When I first started my undergraduate career, I was still finding myself as well as trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to study. It was the connection that I had with those around me as well as the connection I had with my psychology professors that really helped guide me in the right direction. I love working with teens, young adults, as well as adults who are struggling with finding themselves for whatever reason it may be. As someone who has experienced grief and loss, I know how it can feel for those who are struggling to piece themselves back together when a major obstacle is thrown their way. I have also struggled with finding my own identity, but with time and effort I have been able to put some of the pieces together. Our own self-concept is made up of our self-esteem, self-image, and our ideal self, which may be hard to completely understand at any point in our lives. Therefore, I would love to help people start, or continue, that process of self-discovery.
For my undergraduate degree, I attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice for my BS in Criminal Justice and Forensic Psychology. I then attended Adelphi University for my MA in Mental Health Counseling. During my time at Adelphi, I got the opportunity to intern for WellLife Network PROS program as well as work for Bridges to Adelphi, a fantastic program geared towards supporting students with learning disabilities or students with Autism succeed with their college career. I am looking forward to supporting those who want to achieve their ultimate goals in life and support you to become the best version of yourself!
