Young adults often feel like they are thrown into the world. From one moment to the next they go from having life taken care of for them to endless paths, decisions and choices – that will determine their futures- that they are expected to confidently make themselves. Pair these huge life choices with low self-esteem and everyday life stressors and many of our clients feel stuck or discouraged. They lay awake at night, stuck on the endless “hamster wheel” of all of the big decisions they are facing and wishing they could just relax. They question if they are making the right choices at school, in their careers, in their relationships- and chronically feel like they are coming up short. They feel pressured to make life-changing choices when they feel like they are underprepared and uncertain. Being an adult is hard.

In the beginning of treatment our goal will be to build a solid foundational relationship between client and therapist. You will work with your therapist collaboratively to identify long-term and short-term goals that will assist you in reaching your long-term goals. With the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy most clients are completed with treatment in about 15-20 sessions. However, length of treatment is dependent on the approach used, as well as the nature and cause of the concerns that brought each individual to therapy. Many clients choose to focus on the here and now, while others feel they need to delve into their past to work through past hurts that contribute to current thoughts and patterns. Together we will develop a tailored approach for you that will help you on your path to being a more confident, happy and fulfilled human being.When you are ready, we will end but you will always be welcome back for refresher sessions if need be.
